EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens)

EVO ICL Surgery

Your vision is unique, just like you. If you are ready for less dependence on glasses or contacts, don’t accept a one-size-fits-all solution. Here at Lake Austin Eye, we offer several different options for vision correction based on what is right for you.

What is The EVO ICL?
The EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a highly advanced lens made of biocompatible materials that is implanted inside of the eye between your iris (the colored part of the eye) and your natural crystalline lens. Unlike laser vision correction such as LASIK or PRK, which reshape the cornea, the EVO ICL is an implant that improves your vision without removing corneal tissue or altering your eye’s natural structure.

Who is a Candidate for EVO ICL?

  • EVO ICL Surgery is FDA approved to treat nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism that is corrected with glasses or contact lenses
  • Patients must have a stable prescription that has not changed in the last year
  • Patients must be at least 21 years of age
  • Patients must have an otherwise healthy eye and sufficient depth of the anterior chamber of the eye

Benefits of EVO ICL Surgery

  • High-Quality Vision: Offers sharp and clear eyesight, often exceeding expectations
  • UV Protection: The lens protects against ultraviolet rays
  • Suitable for patients who are not good candidates for LASIK or PRK surgery due to thin corneas, dry eyes, or high myopia
  • Can treat astigmatism
  • Reversible Procedure: The implanted lens can be removed or replaced if needed
  • Quick Recovery: Most patients experience an immediate improvement in vision shortly after the procedure

EVO ICL Procedure & Recovery

EVO ICL surgery has the advantage of delivering clear vision with a quick recovery and minimal discomfort. It is an intraocular surgery and therefore is performed in the sterile operating room to ensure maximum safety. It takes 20-30 minutes and is performed with plenty of numbing medicine as well as sedation through an IV to ensure patients are comfortable the entire time.

You will need a friend or family member to drive you the day of surgery.  Every patient is different, but many of our ICL patients resume day-to-day activities 24 hours after their procedure. We will give you detailed post-procedure guidelines and schedule follow-up appointments to check on your healing.

EVO ICL Surgery can provide life changing vision improvement as an option for patients who may not be candidates for laser vision correction like LASIK or PRK.

If you have questions about EVO ICL or other vision correction options, we are here for you and we’re happy to help!
